BOREHOLES

Drilling a borehole is a great way to lower the cost of your water bill and to assist in taking pressure off the water grid especially in times of drought.

When considering a borehole, you can use the following step by step guide to assist you.

1 – We first need to identify an area that can be drilled, we do this by means of a traditional diviner or a Hydrologist. Please note that we want to make sure you are aware that although every effort is made to find water, we will only know if these are successful once we start drilling.

The diviner or Hydrologist will try to identify fishers or breaks in solid rock formations, and it is in these breaks that we will attempt to find water.

2 – The next step is to proceed with the drill, this can be a noisy and messy process, yet it will only last a day or two at most. The resulting mess will be cleaned up the day after the drilling has been completed. If we are not successful, this is where the process stops and unfortunately you will still need to cover the costs of the drilling process and the clean-up. If we are successful, we will move to the next step.

3 – We will now test the borehole to gauge the exact amount that can be extracted from the hole, after a six-hour yield test we will be able to determine this. We will then equip the hole with a pump that only extracts 70% of the tested yield.

4 – The water from the borehole now gets pumped into tanks and from these tanks we will then boost the water to your taps, Irrigation system and even your house.

Please remember that this water is to be used for garden use only until we undergo a SANS 241 potable water test which will determine what we need to do to purify the water making it fit for human consumption.

RAIN HARVESTING

Rapid Water Solutions believes there are ways to save water without compromising your lifestyle, and we are constantly striving to find smarter and more innovative ways to help you get even more from your water conservation efforts.

Rainwater harvesting is the collection of rainwater directly from the surface(s) it falls on. This water would otherwise have gone directly into the drainage system or been lost through evaporation and transpiration. Once collected and stored it can be used for non-potable purposes, these include toilet flushing, garden watering and washing machines.

The benefits of a smart irrigation system include:

Time:
Irrigation systems replace tedious time-consuming hosepipe watering.

Convenience:
A controller waters your landscape even when you are away.

Water-saving:
An automated irrigation system uses water more efficiently than traditional sprinkler systems, and distributes water more evenly than hand watering.

Landscape maintenance costs:
An irrigation system allows your landscape investment to grow and saves having to replace plants that die from insufficient water.

Property value:
An attractive, well-maintained landscape does more to enhance the value of your property, rand for rand, that practically any other home improvement investment.

Our systems are ideal for:

• Residential properties, from townhouses to lifestyle estates

• Shopping centres, business parks and other commercial properties

• Sports complexes, stadiums, fields, parks or golf course surrounds

• Garden centres, nurseries, and growers
